SPONSOR A SCHOOL TO READ

It’s a fact that the more people in Rosarito who read, the better the quality of life in our community. With that in mind, in 2006 Friends of the Library was formed to encourage reading throughout the city.

What is Rosarito Lee?
Rosarito Lee
(Rosarito Reads) is our city-wide reading program, now in its seventh year of operation.  4th through 6th grade classes read the heartwarming stories in
stories in Francisco Jimenez’ Cajas de Carton and Senderos Fronterizos and Alicia Molina’s El Cristal con que se mira. This year we will again serve thousands of  elementary students.

What is a School Sponsor?
Your $200 school sponsorship enables Friends of the Library to purchase 40 books, enough for an entire grade level for one school. In some schools, 40 books serve as many as 120 young readers – so each book you help buy touches several hearts and minds. Last year, sponsors joined us as individuals, as families, as businesses and as groups.

Are there special Rosarito Lee activities?
Rosarito Lee students write compositions and create drawings relating to the books' themes for a published Anthology. They compete in Jeopardy-style competitions with questions taken from the books.

Who can be a School Sponsor?

Any and all can sponsor a school and enable these young readers to participate in Rosarito Lee's many enriching activities.
  • Ask your book club, golf/bridge/mahjongg/gin/poker group to be a Sponsor
  • Do you have a group of friends, neighbors, a religious group who might wish to be part of this wonderful program?

Each Sponsor or Sponsor Group is recognized on our website and invited to attend a reading session at the sponsored school.

You cannot give yourself a better gift than the thanks and appreciation of scores of young readers who learn to love reading because of your generosity.

To become a sponsor or to give the gift of sponsorship, use the convenient PayPal link below or contact  friendsofthelibraryrb@gmail.com.

Join our growing list of School Sponsors. We couldn't do it without you.

"I have to say that was the best $200 I ever spent. I got so much more out of it than I put in! The kids were great and their parents were so very nice to me. The event was spectacular - a really big deal for the kids. It was my first time seeing the color guard and the national anthem... Thanks for all your hard work and for getting me involved. I loved it!”  -- from a School Sponsor at the Copa Panchito Final
