Technology in the Libraries - exciting new developments

PictureHere you see Tech for All staff members at work and meeting with Tech Committee member Ann Hoffman after she received their exciting promise to provide computers to the 5 libraries of Rosarito
  • While some of the library branches have had computers on site some of the time, Friends of the Library knew there was a LOT of room for improvement to bring the libraries into the 21st century - where technology is such an important part of learning.

In February of 2018, our Tech Committee was formed with the purpose of  working with city and library staff to bring technology to all five Rosarito libraries.
Within one short month, a Tech Committee member had met with "Tech For All" in Denver and received a promise of....
  • *as many computers and peripherals as needed to supply five libraries in Rosarito, including installed software
    *a server to support computers
*Tablets for all who complete computer training at the library (with no limit to how many, as long as Tech For All has them)

The Committee also received approval from Rosarito government to proceed with bringing in computers and peripherals from the U.S.

In July 2018 the computers had arrived in San Diego. We are now in the process of transporting them to Mexico and will begin the rollout to the libraries. Our efforts will include not only providing the equipment, but also creating computer training programs for
  • Students
  • General public
  • Staff
Training will be done by library personnel.

This is surely an example of Committee work at its best and invaluable support by a generous "sister" non-profit organization, Denver Tech for All.
