Friends of the Library believes that a person who reads will have a brighter future with more opportunities. We provide books in a city with few libraries and no bookstores. We create excitement about reading with innovative programs and train teachers, parents and other adults to continue these activities in their own communities. We have reached thousands of children; and through the children, their families, including parents and grandparents. Here is what they say about us:
“The truth is I didn’t read books before, but these books hooked me and I didn’t want to put them down.”
-A boy in one of our school reading programs -“You can not imagine how great the influence has been of your marvelous program on the life of my daughter. She now wants to do what you do when she grows up …. bring the excitement of books to all the children who do not know how wonderful it is to enter the world of reading.”

UP CLOSE WITH OUR PROGRAMSOur precious Bookmobile volunteers
We have built an amazing dedicated volunteer team over the years. These videos introduce you to a few of them. See Michelle walk you through the “routine” as users arrive at one of our Bookmobile’s biweekly stops. As with Barbara, who you also see in the next video, she is totally bilingual. She can help our expat supporters understand how things work at the bookmobile. But she can instantly change languages to interact with our users of all ages. Ann, in a third video, has a professional librarian background plus a passion for what we do bringing books to the community of Rosarito. These volunteers are a total blessing for us.
